Beginning of the 20th century, Podole. The doctor (Jacek Poniedziałek) is passionate about ether - a substance that relieves pain and takes away consciousness, mysterious and deadly dangerous. When a young girl falls victim to her actions, the doctor is condemned to death. Unexpectedly, he manages to avoid the hook. The doctor finds a job in the Austrian Partition, in a military fortress commanded by the commander (Andrzej Chyra). In addition to the official practice, he begins to conduct increasingly strangest experiments on his own: on the living and on the dead. He obsessively improves his knowledge of the ether that allows him to manipulate the pain, lust and will of people subjected to him. What price will he pay to try to take over the human mind?
