Built in the Gulf of Mexico platform Deepwater Horizon is the size of a small housing estate and the height of a skyscraper. It has to extract unprecedented amounts of oil, bringing enormous profits to their owners. During start-up mining, however, it comes to failure, which soon leads to a series of explosions and fire platform. At the same time in the Gulf begins with a storm. Captain Mike Williams has been informed that the emergency services will not be able to come to the help of the crew, due to extreme weather conditions. Knowing that at any moment can lead to the sinking of the platform, Williams will do anything to save his people.

Stracony czas, przez pół filmu pali się platforma i wybucha. Jak na film katastroficzny to straszna "kaszana", szkoda tylko świetnych aktorów do takiej szmiry. Niby oparte na faktach, ale nuuuuuda. Opis filmu nie odpowiada prawdzie, ktoś z opisujących nie obejrzał do końca. Nie mieliście cierpliwości wysiedzieć do końca?
